SO, uhm, these books are what I like to call Adult books about teens. Which is pretty self explanatory, right? Just in case… These book have WAY too much ADULT stuff to be appropriate for a teen audience but because the characters are teenagers they are considered YOUNG ADULT. So where do we classify these stories? How do we make sure that our teenagers do not read them until they are older? We really can’t unless we read everything our teens do. (There is a new in-between genre, it’s call NEW ADULT but those books are supposed to be filled with 18-22 year olds and filled with graphic situations.) This is one of the main reasons I started my book rating website cleanlit.com. I wanted people to know what they were getting into before cracking the spine of their new book.
Anyhow, this is a list of ‘teenage’ books or YA books that you will love, I adore every last one of these, just don’t let your teenager read them. 🙂
